Places to Visit in Seattle Wa
72Visiting Seattle
This will be a quick guide of some of the things to do in the Seattle area. These are the places that I make sure I take people when they visit the Seattle area. They are also the places and things that I do now when I return to the Seattle area.
Space Needle
The Space Needle is one of my favorite places to start a trip to Seattle. The observation deck of the Space Needle is a great place to get a great view of the city on a clear day. If the weather cooperates visitors get a view of downtown Seattle as well as Mt. Rainier. Visitors get to the observation deck by an elevator which runs up the outside of the Space Needle and offers a quick and interesting view of the surrounding square. Just below the observation deck the Space Needle hosts a rotating restaurant that gives a 360 degree view of the city as one eats.
In the same general area as the Space Needle, one can also visit the Experience Music Project which is an interesting stop for those who have an interest in Music. The Pacific Science Center is also a good stop for those who are looking for activities for children.
Pike Place Market
Pike Place Public Market has all kinds of shopping opportunities as well as views of the Puget Sound. The Market has local vendors that sell everything from Fish and Vegetables to Jewelry. This is a great place to wonder and look at all the items for sale. The market is an interesting place for both visitors and locals alike.
Seattle Pier
The Seattle Pier hosts a variety of activities. The Seattle Aquarium is located along the Seattle pier. The Aquarium has many exhibits most of which focus on the aquatic life in the pacific northwest.
Along the pier, visitors should take advantage of a harbor tour. The tour travels along the pier giving the history and current use of the various piers. When the weather cooperates the harbor tour is a great way to get a brief history of some of the piers and buildings of Seattle as well as some amazing views of the city from the water.
Safeco and Qwest
These are the sports stadiums which were built with a similar design and a roof which is able to be closed. This ability does come in handy with the unpredictable weather in Seattle.
Safeco Field is the home of the Seattle Mariners and is an interesting location for even the none sports fans. Qwest field is the home of the Seattle Seahawks and the Seattle Sounders. Visitors have the ability to tour each of the stadiums and/or take in a game depending on the time of year and which teams are in town.
Mt. Rainier
Although Mt. Rainier is not in Seattle it is an amazing place to visit if you have the time built into your visit. Located about 50 miles Southeast of the city, Mt. Rainier offers amazing scenery and plenty of hiking and camping. There are plenty activities both in Summer and Winter.
Pioneer Square
Pioneer Square is one of the oldest neighborhoods in Seattle. It contains plenty of old shops, restaurants, bars and interesting architecture. It is located very close to both of the sports stadiums. There is plenty to do in Pioneer Square including a walking tour of the underground which depicts aspects of Seattle before the fire. There is also a history of the klondike gold rush.

Thanks for the hub. Made me really miss Seattle.
As a fellow Seattle-ite, after reading this I am homesick! I so miss the market.
